Hi guys! This will be our first post and our first try at actual blogging (so don't judge). We're still trying to figure this out. Starting the blog with a get to know post! We are Rafi and Trizia, we are actually "bookstagrammers"...and currently trying to be book bloggers. I can't believe that we reached this point already.
We are both turning 25 this year (2017). Too old for blogging? I don't think so. We've been the best of friends since 1st year college as we took the same course together (NOTE: we both took a rehabilitation sciences degree). This is not a secret between us as at first I did not really like her, and yes, I actually judged her when I first saw her that first day of class and I'm pretty sure she did not like me as well however, we both had a common friend thus we were able to get to know each other and we realized that we have a lot more in common than we first thought. I guess our love for books and reading was what made us hit it off real quick.
We first started our bookstagram account a year ago (April 2016) as we pretty much like (or should I say love) taking photos, books and reading so we decided, why not do both? Lo and behold, we created an Instagram for books which we named as @pagesandbeyond (we were supposed to name it, beyondpages, sadly, that username was taken). This was actually a spur of the moment thing, I was browsing Instagram. Trizia and I were both in the car (going home after work) and I just keep on seeing these numerous book photos and I knew Trizia and I had to do it too. Both of us had tons of books (we used to share books, now we buy the same books instead), just sitting in our shelf, either waiting to be picked for reading or just stacked there because we're done with it. So why not make the most out of it?
When we started our bookstagram, we already know that this area was competitive, just go and search for it in Instagram and you would know why. Nonetheless, it did not stop us from creating an account, taking photos, following famous bookstagrammers, joining shoutout for shoutout sessions, joining book challenges and continuously wracking our brain and creative juices to shoot wonderful book photos. We have to admit that "bookstagram" has been a very welcoming community. We were given a chance to get to know people who share the same passion for reading, be friends with some and even be in contact with the boosktagrammers that we admire.
A year into bookstagram, we decided to make a Goodreads account (actually our account started a week or two ago) so that we can finally make proper reviews to books that we've read. We both have our personal Goodreads account ever since but our reviews there mostly consists of star ratings and a few emotions that we experienced while reading. Currently, we were able to make 5 book reviews and yes, we will be posting those reviews here very soon! This is actually the reason why we created a book blog as we wanted to reach more readers out there who are curious about certain books, and for authors who want their books to be reviewed! We would gladly read those book and share our thoughts about it!
Book VLOG is something to consider and may happen in the future but we're still trying to get the hang of this blogging so, one step at a time. -- Rafi & Trizia
